How We Hit 6 ms Latency
The technical story behind low-latency display extension.
The pipeline
SpareDisplay uses hardware encoding on the Mac and hardware decoding on the client. The entire encode-to-decode pipeline runs in roughly 6 milliseconds over USB.
Why it matters
Display extension fails when cursors lag or text smears. At 6 ms, the extended display feels native — you forget it's streaming.
No dongles, no subscription traps, no browser-grade quality. Just a fast software pipeline.
