Quick Start
Get SpareDisplay running between a Mac and an Android device.
What you need
SpareDisplay currently runs as a Mac host app paired with an Android client. USB is the most reliable connection method.
- A Mac running the SpareDisplay host app
- An Android device with USB debugging enabled
- A USB data cable
Install the Mac host
- Download SpareDisplay.dmg.
- Drag SpareDisplay.app into Applications.
- Launch and grant Screen Recording permission.
- Re-open if macOS requests it.
Install the Android client
- Install SpareDisplay.apk.
- Enable Developer Options.
- Enable USB debugging.
- Connect and accept the trust prompt.
Start a session
Open SpareDisplay on both devices. Keep the Mac menu bar host active. The Android client connects automatically once ADB detects the device.
